What a Week: Bathroom Construction

Life is so harsh. I'm so tired today because of the mini-construction going on at home. We're tiling the bathroom and fixing a portion of the house. It's been an endless week of fitting in schedules and making time to check the foreman's job.

A couple of weeks ago, we were experiencing mini-earthquakes. I was wondering what the cause of it was, as there weren't news of any occurring. To my surprise, the foreman in-charge of tiling and "prettifying" the bathroom informed us that the cemented portion of the house is slowly sinking. There was a big gap between the wall towards the other rooms and the wall of the bathroom. The cemented portion is leaning at an approximately 10 degrees angle. Not only was it funny, but devastating as well.

Who would've thought that the cemented part was the first one to get damaged. So now, aside from the issue of fitting the the entire bathroom renovation in the number of labor days I and my sister ( courtesy of my generous BIL) could afford, I had to spend extra to put braces at the bottom of the kitchen, to help support the weight of the cemented walls and floor.

I chose blue tiles because those were the best looking ones I've seen. Unfortunately, this also means that the room could turn into an insect touring spot. Let's just hope the white wall will deflect them- even in the slightest way.

After the construction ( and the paint job me and my beau will be doing), we'll have a brand new bathroom my mom will be happy of... hopefully.

Reminiscing My Niece's Birthday

Imagine today's the 17th of November. The kids are at school and my sister has her day-off. We go the grocery store and stock up for snack time's spaghetti. Once done with the first task, we go to Red Ribbon to buy the pretty Tiramisu cake which have lasted for more than a week in the refrigerator. The day had turned out even better when my sister bought me and herself a venti Starbucks Dark Mocha with extra whip cream in SM.

Kate's 11th Birthday Cake

Not that the cake tasted too sweet or too bland, nobody just had the guts to claim the last piece due to the possibility of facing the wrath of the birthday girl.

We had the traditional spaghetti topped with cheese and hotdog slices. Two platefuls, I recall mine- and a glass of C2 lemon to quench my thirst. Yet the night didn't end here.

We went to Alfredo's that same evening. After being accustomed to vegetables and a generally fish-based diet, this was the first time I've felt so bloated after only devouring a quarter of my steak.

The Nene Effect (Sister Effect)

There are different kinds of unexplainable phenomena in this world of ours. Some are more scientific than others such as the domino effect, the tyndall effect, and the butterfly effect. All of these affecting us in some minute way or another.

Little did I know, that I shall be affected too in such an extraordinarily enormous way. It changed my life's perspective in every aspect possible. It made me more responsible and more independent than I used to be. Now, I'm no longer just some intelligent person trying to make a statement of my individuality. I am now able to take care of myself and my loved ones without asking anything in return. I have become a disciple and avid follower of the.... NENE EFFECT!

The Nene effect takes place when you live with a NENE. A nene is a normal person who has a strong sense of balance and direction in both his or her daily routines and overall life outlook. This person is usually the characterized as the middle one: a middle brother or a middle sister. They are the ones who take care of both the proud eldest or elders and the spoiled youngest or siblings. They are wise and understanding. Each imparting thought they give should be treasured as it contains the secrets of happy life.

But take heed to this warning, do not mess with the NENE. Their words are piercing daggers that when blurted will immediately send you guilt ridden for a long time...

If you feel you have something missing in your life, most likely you lack the NENE EFFECT. Go now, and find a Nene for yourself.

Note: Nene is one of the nicknames given to a sister in a typical Filipino family- like Toto, Inday, Tata, Nining and the likes.
